Curved black mulch bed with boulders and young shrubs beside a stone patio and deck

Landscape design in Toledo, OH New beds. Built to last.

Beds redone, shrubs and trees planted, boulders set and gravel laid, by a crew that answers.

Beds, plantings and ground work

A good bed starts with the ground under it.

Most yards do not need a big plan.

They need one corner done right.

We redo worn beds, plant new shrubs and trees, and set boulders where they belong.

We have planted a young arborvitae and ringed it with mulch the right way.

We have cut a gravel pad into a lawn and set stock tank raised beds on top of it.

We have run a gravel strip along a foundation, with a downspout that has somewhere to go.

We have also prepped a space for pavers that was meant to hold raised gardens.

Bigger ideas are worth a call.

Ask us about them and send a photo of the space.

You get one number to call, all year.

What we take on

The work, in plain terms.

  1. Bed redo

Old beds cleared back, re-shaped and planted again with a clean cut edge.

  2. Shrubs and trees

New plantings set at the right depth, with a mulch ring that stays off the trunk.

  3. Boulders

Stone placed in beds so it looks like it was always there.

  4. Gravel pads and strips

Compacted gravel for raised beds, or a strip along the foundation.

  5. Ground prep

The base work for a paver space, before anyone lays a stone.

  6. Bigger ideas

Ask us about anything past this list. Send a photo and we talk it through.

Design around Toledo

Sand in one yard, clay in the next.

Northwest Ohio ground changes fast from one side of town to the other.

Out toward the Oak Openings the ground tends to run sandy and drains quickly.

Closer to the river and the old Great Black Swamp, heavy clay is common.

Clay holds water, so where a downspout lands matters as much as what you plant.

Plants that like it dry suit the sandy side, and tougher shrubs suit the clay side.

Ohio State Extension puts lawn seeding in northern Ohio at August 15 to September 15.

Call 811 before anyone digs, whether that is us or you.

Questions

The short answers.

Do you lay pavers or patios?

Ask us about it. We have prepped a space for pavers.

Send a photo and tell us what you have in mind.

Can you just redo one bed?

Yes. One bed, one corner or the whole front of the house.

Tell us what bugs you about it now.

How do I know what will grow?

It depends on the ground, the sun and where the water sits.

We tell you what we think will last in your yard.

Do I need to call 811?

Call before anyone digs. That goes for us and for you.

It is the number for marking buried lines.
